Art

Our vision for art and design is that all pupils develop creativity, confidence and technical skills through engaging in analysis of art as well as practical learning. Pupils are encouraged to explore and express their own ideas while experimenting with a wide range of materials, techniques, and processes. The curriculum aims to foster an appreciation of diverse artists, styles, cultures, and historical contexts, helping pupils to understand art as part of the wider world.

Learning in art is purposeful and connected to other subjects, promoting meaningful cross-curricular links and real-world relevance. Pupils are encouraged to talk about art using a broad range of subject specific vocabulary.

Pupils are supported to reflect on, plan, create and evaluate their work, generating a lifelong enjoyment of artistic expression.

To help us meet our intention, we have selected to use the Cornerstones curriculum for Art and Design. This provides our teachers with interesting, cohesive and creative schemes of learning that develop knowledge and promote creative expression for all.
