Welcome to Team Juniper

Term 6

Term 6 is well underway. The children have been hard at work with our new topic of film. Over the course of this term they will be finding out about how films are made, different genres of film and maybe even making one of their own!

In literacy we are reading the story of '101 Dalmatians' by Dodie Smith. The children will be writing their own version of the story and learning different ways to hook the reader.

In science the children will be finding out about light and shadow.

Don't forget to make sure your child has their reading record signed every day and in school so they can get their reading certificates.

Welcome back!

Term five is going to be an exciting and full term.

We are looking at South America for our topic this term and we will be finding out about different geographical features as well as how their lives differ from ours. We will be looking at the story of Ada's Violin where a group of children create an orchestra made from recycled materials.

We are looking at the four operations, measurement, shape and fractions.

During Literacy we will be writing a narrative and writing letters to persuade people to take care of the world around us.

In science we will be learning how to plan and carry out investigations.

Homework will be on a Friday. Maths will be due back on the following Monday and the spelling test will be the following Monday also. Children are expected to read daily and have their reading record signed by an adult. Reading records need to be in school everyday.

PE is every Thursday. A white t-shirt has been provided for each child.

Science Investigations

Chestnut and Juniper classes have had great fun planning and carrying out different science investigations. This week we combined Science and Maths by investigating which shape would make the strongest tower. We all got very sticky but made some great towers.
