Term six sees us continuing our learning all about Africa. We will be learning lots of different and interesting things about the World's second largest continent!
We will be learning about the geographical features of Africa, such as the countries which are part of this continent, languages which are spoken there and animals which live there.
We will also be looking at the history of Africa and key people such as Nelson Mandela.
Throughout the term we will be thinking about how people live in Africa and the differences and similarities between countries within the same continent such as tribes and their cultures and traditions.
What is a continent?
What countries are in Africa?
How many countries are in Africa?
Who is Nelson Mandela? Why is he famous?
In Literacy we this term we are enjoying reading a selection of short stories by Rudyard Kipling. We will be using these to link with our topic of Africa by using stories such as, 'How the Elephant Got His Trunk' and 'How the Camel Got His Hump.'
We will be using these stories to help us create our own narratives and our own Just So Stories for our own animals.
We will also be turning these stories in to recounts, such as diary entries and newspaper reports.
