Welcome to Maple Class
Class Teacher: Miss Covington
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Hayward
This term our topic will be Anthony Browne.
In Literacy we will be using a few of his texts to aid us in developing our writing. We are currently using ‘Gorilla’ to help us write descriptions and letters. Why not trying writing a letter at home with your child?
As well as writing for different purposes, we will always have a focus on the using finger spaces, forming our letters correctly and beginning to understand when to use capital letters and full stops.
In Maths we are learning the concepts around number and place value. We will be finding one more and less than a number, counting forwards and backwards, and comparing and ordering numbers.
When out with your child, or walking to and from school, why not ask them what numbers they can see and get them to tell you one more and one less of each number?
In Science, we are learning about Animals Including Humans. We will be identifying and sorting different animals and finding out what animal groups they belong to.
To support this learning, we will be visiting Howletts on Friday 5th October – both children and adults are looking forward to seeing all the animals!
In Topic sessions we will be linking our learning to Anthony Browne, Gorilla and animals. We will be planning and making different models. Come back later in the term to see our creations!
