Cross-School Interventions.

Speech and Language

Speech and Language 1

Speech and Language interventions are taken by Mrs Day. We have a Speech and Language specific room and Mrs Day works closely with external SALT to create stimulating resources and specific interventions tailored to the individual needs of our children. Each child has specific entry and exit data from their sessions that we update on our whole school map and provision maps, where relevant.

Sing and Sign

Sing and Sign 1
Sing and Sign is a Nursery/EYFS parent and infant intervention. Mrs Day, our in house Speech and Language Champion, takes groups inĀ  our school hall throughout the year. Please look out for invitations in book bags, or see the school office to register an interest.

Working Memory

Working Memory 1
Working Memory is an intervention taken by Mrs Kendall, our SEN/Dyslexia Champion. We work closely with children whose Cops Screeners had indicated that they have an issue with working memory. Mrs Kendall has developed a variety of games and tasks designed to improve working memory through her pedagogical research into this area and we look forward to tracking each child's improvements in the next screener.

School Anxiety

School Anxiety 1
A number of children in any school become anxious about issues or relationships at school. What can appear an often irrelevant situation to us, can often translate into an ordeal that causes a child significant trauma. To combat this and improve the wellbeing and our children's ability to communicate anxiety, Mrs Cox has developed a school anxiety group based around the principals of sharing our worries and communicating as a group. Although a new addition to our interventions and difficult to measure progress from, the children have been incredibly positive about the impact it has had for them.

Attendance Anxiety

For many children, attending school is a difficult concept involving a range of sensory and emotional demands. We place every effort to make our school as welcoming, transparent and as fun as possible . However, for children who are still struggling we have an intervention run by Mrs Cox, designed to share and address any worries and concerns they may have.

Lego Therapy

Within school we have several staff attending courses to become LEGO Therapy practitioners. This should allow us to work closely with children who may be too young, or lack the communication skills to engage with Dare to Differ.

Fizzy Ball Skills

This programme has been devised by Occupational and Physiotherapists to help children improve their ball skills. Mr Niclen (PE Lead) and Mr Thomson deliver our Fizzy programme within school, all targets are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time bound.) and tracked through our Whole School Map, or provision maps, when relevant.

Fizzy Clever Hands

This programme has been devised by Occupational and Physiotherapists to help children improve their fine motor skills. Mr Niclen (PE Lead) and Mr Thomson deliver our Fizzy programme within school, all targets are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time bound.) and tracked through our Whole School Map, or provision maps, when relevant.
